Este concurso fue uno de los tantos proyectos que intentamos realizar por primera vez juntos, con la finalidad de analizar que tan bien trabajábamos como equipo al formar Arteaga Tello.
Effix Pavilion fue un concurso para mejorar el mobiliario urbano ubicado en el Seaside Park de la ciudad de Varna, Bulgaria. El cual consistía en diseñar un pabellón comercial usando únicamente concreto de la forma más creativa posible, ya que este concurso está organizado en parte por Devnya Cement AD, miembro de Italcementi Group, el cual se comprometía a llevar a cabo el primer prototipo en tamaño real del proyecto ganador para posteriormente desarrollar toda una serie de éstos mismos en todo el parque.
Una de las oportunidades que brinda esta compañía y el verdadero propósito de este concurso era mostrar la versatilidad y maleabilidad que ofrece el usar uno de sus concretos especializados para hacer diseños más orgánicos, por lo que los organizadores trataban de motivar a los participantes a hacer este tipo de propuestas para el concurso. Lo que nosotros presentamos inicialmente era un pabellón muchísimo más orgánico como un arácnido, en el que cada pata tendría que hacerse con un molde diferente para hacer esta propuesta algo único y casi irrepetible. Lo único que pensamos en modular para tratar de simplificar ciertas partes durante la construcción, fue la cubierta, la cual se pensó a través de hexágonos que se podían mandar a hacer por separado, para luego ensamblarlos en sitio. El prototipo luego fue modificado para tratar de cumplir una de las reglas establecidas por el concurso de que el diseño tenía que ser modular para que, en caso de ser necesario, se pudieran colocar varios módulos juntos para hacer una estructura mucho más grande (expandible).
This contest was one of the many projects that we tried to carry out together for the first time, in order to analyze how well we worked as a team when forming Arteaga Tello.
Effix Pavilion was a competition to improve street furniture located in the Seaside Park in the city of Varna, Bulgaria. Which consisted of designing a commercial pavilion using only concrete in the most creative way possible, since this contest is organized in part by Devnya Cement AD, a member of Italcementi Group, which undertook to carry out the first prototype in real size of the winning project to later develop a whole series of these throughout the park.
One of the opportunities offered by this company and the true purpose of this contest was to show the versatility and malleability offered by using one of their specialized concretes to make more organic designs, so the organizers tried to motivate the participants to do this type of proposals for the contest. What we initially presented was a much more organic pavilion like an arachnid, in which each leg would have to be made with a different mold to make this proposal something unique and almost unrepeatable. The only thing we thought about modular to try to simplify certain parts during the construction was the cover, which was thought through exhagons that could be ordered to be made separately, and then assembled on site. The prototype was later modified to try to comply with one of the rules established by the competition that the design had to be modular so that if necessary, several modules could be placed together to make a much larger (expandable) structure.
