La problemática actual en ciudades con un pasado histórico fuerte es la convivencia entre lo antiguo y lo moderno. Muchas veces es difícil decidir que estilo usar: Un estilo moderno podría atentar contra la historicidad del lugar, dañándola y disminuyendo la relevancia de todo el sitio.Por otra parte, la edificación de estructuras con una intencionalidadhistórica simulada, resultaríaen una mala copia, una edificación carente de identidad, un insulto al pasado histórico de la ciudad, pues lo que se pretende es que todo lo que se muestre sea original y que se valore aún más cada edificio si muestra las cicatrices abiertas del desgaste natural.
La idea principal del proyecto parte de respetar el espírituhistórico del lugar, al tiempo que ofrece un atractivo turísticodotado con lo más moderno que la ingeniería y la arquitectura pueden aportar, amalgamando estilos,representando al mismo tiempo lo moderno y lo antiguo, y constituyéndose en un hitolocal, una marca identificable que sirve de referencia inequívoca y que compite con el entorno, pero que al mismo tiempo respeta otras obras arquitectónicas del lugar, sean estas antiguas o modernas.
The central problem in cities with a strong historical past is the coexistence between old and modern. Often, it is quite difficult to decide which style to use: A modern style could go against the historicity of the place, damaging it and diminishing the relevance of the entire site. Moreover, building structures with a simulated historical intent would result in a poor copy, a building devoid of identity, an insult to the historical past of the city, because the aim is that all that is shown is original and each building is valued more if it shows the open scars from wear and tear.
The main idea of the project is to respect the historical spirit of the site, while offering a tourist attraction fitted with the top elementsthat engineering and architecture can provide, amalgamating styles representing modernity and tradition, and becoming a local landmark, an identifiable brand that serves as anunambiguous reference and that compete with itssurroundings, but at the same time respectingneighboring architectural structures, be they recent or old.
