Dublín, la capital de la República de Irlanda está en la costa este de Irlanda, dentro de la provincia de Leinster en la desembocadura del río Liffey. La ciudad tiene una población de 1.273.069 en su área urbana.
El objetivo de este concurso internacional era el diseño de una nueva Pasarela contemporánea en la zona de muelles de Dublín sobre el río Liffey.
La arquitectura de esta nueva estructura debe reflejar las tendencias del diseño contemporáneo. La propuesta no sólo debe atender a la función específica pero el diseño también debe tener en cuenta la inserción urbana y el impacto orientada hacia la creación de un nuevo símbolo arquitectónico de la ciudad
Esta competencia esperaba lograr lo siguiente:
- Fomentar y recompensar la excelencia del diseño entre arquitectura e ingeniería.
- Investigue, responda y resalte los aspectos únicos del diseño de una pasarela original.
- Generar la discusión de ideas sobre la funcionalidad de los puentes en relación con el arte y la escultura.
- Fomentar el empleo del diseño sostenible en todos los aspectos de la propuesta.
Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland is on the east coast of Ireland, within the province of Leinster at the mouth of the River Liffey. The city has a population of 1,273,069 in their urban area.
The aim of this International Competition was to design a new Contemporary Footbridge in the docks area of Dublin over the River Liffey.
The architecture of this new structure should reflect contemporary design tendencies. The proposal must not only attend to the specific function but the design should also take into consideration the urban insertion and impact geared towards creating a new architectural symbol for the city.
This competition hoped to achieve the following:
– Encourage and reward design excellence between architecture and engineering.
– Research, respond to and highlight the unique aspects of designing an original footbridge.
– To generate the discussion of ideas regarding the functionality of bridges in relation with art and sculpture.
– Encourage the employment of sustainable design in all aspects of the proposal.
