Hace ya varios años mi hermana junto con su esposo crearon la idea del Museo vivo “los bichos de Malinalco”, proyecto que han estado desarrollando por al menos 10 años, en ese tiempo han tenido altas y bajas, pero el proyecto ha sido una constante al punto de ser a la fecha un lugar de referencia para el pueblo.
Los dos son biólogos egresados del IPN, por lo que al terminar sus carreras se vieron en el dilema de trabajar para alguien más o buscar cómo mantenerse a sí mismos. Así, después de deambular en una variedad de trabajos en instancias tanto particulares como gubernamentales, decidieron fundar lo que ahora es el museo vivo en una antigua casona abandonada propiedad de la familia.
Esta casa fue diseñada por un arquitecto del estado de México y se empezó a construir por trabajadores de la zona, pero nunca llegó a terminarse, por lo que con el paso de los años y sin los servicios más básicos para una estancia permanente, las visitas se fueron haciendo cada vez más escasas y con la muerte de la cabeza de familia, terminó por abandonarse completamente. De esta manera, lo poco que si había sido colocado como ventanas, puertas, etc. Se fueron deteriorando con el paso de los años y las áreas verdes creciendo hasta hacerse una maleza espesa que cubría todo a su alrededor, también el robo constante y las incursiones ilegales de gente local
Fueron dejando la propiedad en un estado deplorable con el paso de los años.
Así, en estas condiciones, fue cuando llegaron por primera vez los biólogos al lugar, limpiando la maleza, reemplazando las ventanas viejas, remodelando y mejorando cosas hasta que después de un año se pudo inaugurar el museo, en un estilo por demás improvisado y con los mínimos recursos. Aun así, la propuesta resultó muy atractiva para el tipo de turistas que suelen visitar el pueblo y se ha mantenido con el tiempo hasta nuestros días a través de una constante reinversión y mejoría de las instalaciones.

This house was designed by an architect from the state of Mexico and began to be built by workers from the area, but it was never finished, so over the years and without the most basic services for a permanent stay, visits became increasingly scarce and with the death of the head of the family, the house ended being abandoned completely. thus, the little that already had been placed as windows, doors, etc. They were deteriorating over the years and the green areas grew to become a thick undergrowth that covered everything around the house. Also the constant theft and illegal incursions of local people left the property in a deplorable state over the years.
Thus, in these conditions, it was when the two biologists first arrived at the site, cleaning the undergrowth, replacing the old windows, remodeling and improving things until after a year the museum could be inaugurated, in a improvised style and with minimum resources. Even so, the proposal turned out to be very attractive for the type of tourists who usually visit the town and has been remained over time to this day through constant investment and improvement of facilities.
