Otro error en el que se cae fácilmente en este tipo de proyectos, es proponer algo moderno y ostentoso, al intentar competir con la obra del gran arquitecto Calatrava que se encuentra a unos cuantos metros de la zona de éste proyecto. Es bueno recordar que la genialidad de esa obra radicó en el rompimiento radicaldel contexto de aquel entonces. El gran problema ahora se presenta para los nuevos arquitectos que quieran proponer algo en el mismo lugar, la primer idea que se viene a la mente de cualquier diseñador es intentar competir a través de algo similar, moderno, monumental y transgresor, pero con el tiempo, al igual que Calatrava, todos van a querer romper con el contexto del lugar, no solamente arruinando la idea original si no el espíritu del lugar, creando obras sin más propósito que el del ego tratando de superar a alguien más.
Entonces, nuestro propósito en este proyecto, es respetar al máximo el entorno, ya que al fin y al cabo el proyecto está pensado como un beneficio para la comunidad. Esto no quiere decir que solamente deba ser funcional, si no que goce de la mayor aceptación posible. Un proyecto de la comunidad para la comunidad, donde no sólo se piense en los turistas y en el renombre nacional o internacional que se pretenda alcanzar, si no que los mismos habitantes de la zona, que tendrán que convivir con la obra día a día, desarrollen un afecto y gratitud hacia la arquitectura del puente, sin necesidad de tener inclinaciones artísticas.
Lo que se desea es presentar algo más que una estructura a la cual sólo hay que admirar, ya que puede impresionaral visitante las primeras veces que lo visita, pero debe poder ofreceralgo más al usuario con el paso del tiempo. El nuevo puente de Berlín intenta ser un sitio para recorrer, sentarse, relajarse y disfrutar, donde se tenga la sensación de hallar algo nuevo con cada visita. Sus formas caprichosas y contrastantes internos, y la vegetaciónmisma, conforme crezca, irá cambiando el aspecto y percepción del lugar, aunado a que el puente se encuentra conformado por diferentes secciones, a diferencia de otros puentes que se componen de un solo cuerpo, lo cual ofrece espacios totalmente diferenciados entre sí, explorables, de descanso y que buscan ofrecer una nueva experiencia con cada visita.
Another error typically associated with this type of project is to propose something trendy and flashy, trying to emulate the work of the great architect Calatrava located just a few meters from the zone of this project. It is good to remember that the genius of that work was to radically break the context of that time. So, in this project,we intend to fully respect the environment, since the finality of this project is to ultimately benefit the community. Of course, this does not mean that only need to be functional, but to gather the widest possible acceptance. A community’s project for the community,not centered only on tourists or national or international renown to be attained, but rather on the local people, who will live with this structure day after day, developing affection and gratitude for the architecture of the bridge, without the need for any artistic inclinations.
What we want is to present something more than a structure to simply admire, for it can impress the visitor the first few times visited, but it should be able to offer some more over time. The New Berlin Bridge tries to be a place to go, sit back, relax and enjoy with the sensation of finding something new each time. His elaboratedforms and internal contrasting, even the vegetation itself, as it grows, will change the look and perception of the place, coupled with the fact that the bridge is made up of different sections, unlike other bridges, thus offering fully differentiated spaces to explore, for resting and offering a new experience with each visit.
